Most of the top players of European Challenge Tour and China came to the 2017 Foshan Open. Zhang Huilin was presented atop the leaderboard after two days and delighted the home crowds with his sublime display. However, after a disappointing Round 3 he missed out on the title, but for the second time, he was awarded the Best Chinese Player. Among 126 contenders, Oliver Farr was the only one who scored under 70 in each day of the tournament and he finally won with an unprecedented 5 strokes margin, achieving the victory to reward his hardwork and dedication.

Creative Approaches
Adding to the drama, in 2017 the Iron Shaft Challenge and Long-Putt Challenge were introduced. The Long-Putt Challenge was held on Saturday at the double green — Hole 9 and Hole 18. Pro players paired with amateurs played 3 knockout rounds of long distance putting. Finally, the New World China Team won.
Iron Shaft Challenge required players to use iron shafts only at the 4 par-3 holes, declaring the winner with the lowest score after 4 rounds. Spaniard Scott Fernandez won with 7 under, obtaining $20,000.

Chen Zihao Janet Lin
We invited Janet Lin, member of Chinese national team and athlete of the 2016 Olympic Games, and Chen Zihao, the Best Chinese Player of the 2016 Foshan Open, to be ambassadors of the Foshan Open. Apart from playing an important role in promoting Foshan Open, Chen was fully engaged in the competition. Janet interviewed players at the Media center and explored sponsors’ tents. At the village zones, she showed spectators around and invited everybody to have fun in golf games.
Culture and Industry Symposium
Since 2016, the Symposium has been a platform for industry experts, professionals and visitors to gather together, share ideas and seek for solutions. Golf course, food and beverage, human resouces and the career development of senior managers were the four focuses of the 2017 Symposium.
More than 300 participants attended the French Gala Reception, sharing opinions about golf culture and green lifestyle and enjoying food, wine, amazing performance and fashion show.
Fall in Love with Golf in Foshan Open
Spectators who came on Saturday were totally attracted by the various shows at the Canton First Estate and the coming of the pro stars was out of their expectation. Francesco Laporta from Italy, Nico Geyger from Chile and Chinese player Huang Wenyi and Wu Hongfu taught children to try playing golf. People clustered around, took photos with them and got their signatures. Instruction from pro players definitely inspired lots of juniors on site, encouraging them to play golf for the first time in Foshan Open.
