Guangdong Teen, She Zi-han – one to watch At Foshan
2015-10-21 23:32:04

Even from the age of 10 when he started playing golf, She Zi-han from Shantou has always demonstrated that he has the talent to go far in the sport. Although he made impressive progress each year, his achievements tended to be  overshadowed by the record- breaking performances of the younger players, Guan Tian-lang and Ye Wo-cheng, who both caught the attention of the world’s golf media.

Now all that has changed, for in March this year the 19 year-old amateur suddenly leapt into the media spotlight by leading a strong field of professionals in the Volvo China Open Qualifying event. Although She faltered on the final two holes to finish in second place he had done enough to show that he is one of the brightest young stars on the golf scene in China. As if the prove the point he then finished 5th in Wuhan, an event on the professional PGA Tour of China.

Much of She’s current form can be attributed to his brief spell in Shanghai, training at the golf academy at Lanhai Golf Club on Chongming Island. Now studying at the Guangzhou Foreign Language and Trade University he misses having a top quality golf course close by but is keen to get a university qualification ‘under his belt’.
“I’m happy to both study and play golf at the moment and am in no hurry to turn professional,” said She. “I will continue to build myself up physically and see if I can improve further by competing against the pros in tournaments. I played in the Foshan Open the last two years but didn’t progress beyond the second round each time. This time I aim to do much better but I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself. I want to enjoy the tournament and learn from the international players who will compete here.”
