Nacho Elvira reaped the rewards on offer last time out, holing a clutch putt on the last to take a title that propelled the Spaniard to The European Tour, and with a prize fund of US$350,000 on offer again in Foshan City that could well be the case again this week.

With increased Official World Golf Ranking points available too, it is sure to be another fine week in Southern China, and one which all involved are looking forward to.

Keith Hardman, General Manager of Foshan Golf Club, said: “We are delighted to have the event back here after last year’s success, as the European Challenge Tour and the CGA have been terrific in working with us to improve the event, and we are just truly excited for this week.

“There has been great support also from the many sponsors who have come on board this year, and they are already expressing an interest in wanting to sign up again for next year, so we are finding great support and we are very appreciative of that as well.

“We are happy to see so many friends back here again from the press, and for all parties involved – whether it be the players, the officials, the media and the volunteers – I hope they all have a great time this week.”

Alain de Soultrait, Director of the Challenge Tour, said: “Last year at the prize giving I said how excited I was to return for the next event in 2014, so here we are, and on behalf of the European Challenge Tour I would like to say that we are delighted to come back to Foshan Golf Club to play the second edition of the Foshan Open.

“I would like to thank Foshan Golf Club and New World for their strong support and commitment, as well as to the CGA, with which we are building an increasing relationship for the benefit of the Chinese players.

“From what we have seen so far the golf course is in excellent condition, the staging of the facility is amazing, and it looks like we are somewhere like The Ryder Cup. So we are very excited about the days ahead and we hope that the tournament will be even more successful than it was last year.

Wang Yanmei, Executive Vice President of the China Golf Association (CGA), said: “We have made a commitment to this tournament for ten years, so it is kind of like our baby. This new born will have very good support from the golf club, from the Challenge Tour, and also it is a great battle for the players in China.

“We have brought in European players to our courses and it is a great thing for our players as they don’t have to leave home to compete on the international stage. This is a great thing, and we are looking forward to the Foshan Open this week.”
