New World Puts Children First For The Foshan Open

Foshan Golf Club, Guangdong , China, Wednesday 23rd July. The 2014 Foshan Open was announced with a flourish yesterday as Kenneth Geng, CEO of presenting sponsor, New World China Land, presented a cheque for Rmb 1 million to Mayor Mai of Foshan for the Red Cross Children’s Hospital in Foshan. The donation will go to help upgrade the rehabilitation programs to enable chronically ill children to take their place back in society and lead a fulfilling and rewarding life.

“We very much appreciate the efforts of Foshan Open and New World China Land to embrace the community of less fortunate children in the area around them,” said Mayor Mai. “As the Foshan Open grows over the years so will our efforts to help children get back to health and have a successful role in society.” 

Mr. Geng said, “It’s always very rewarding to give a donation like this as the children pay us back many times over with their determination and effort. We hope that the Foshan Open will be able to provide a special experience to those children who are able to come along and enjoy the event.”

The US$350,000 Foshan Open, which will take place at Foshan Golf Club from October 23rd to 26th, will feature some of the word’s brightest young professional golfing ‘stars of tomorrow’ from the European Challenge Tour. Along with many of the top players from China, they will battle it out to see who wins the iconic Canton Cup and the US$56,000 winner’s cheque.

To cope with the expected increase over last year’s attendance of 16,000, spectator and hospitality facilities will be both upgraded and expanded.
“In addition to watching some of the rising young stars in action around the beautiful golf course, we will have much more in the way of golf related fun games and activities, bicycle rides, entertainment and plenty of snack and beverage and rest and relax points. It will be a great day out.” said Keith Hardman, General Manager of Foshan Golf Club. “Demand for hospitality has also soared so we will be erecting more luxury pavilions with dining facilities which will be clustered around the 18th and 9th greens close to the action. Spectators also have the opportunity, if they wish,to view models and show houses of our Canton First lifestyle residential development being created next to and around the golf course as well as the excellent country club.”

Ben Cowen, Deputy Director of International Policy for the European Tour said, “We’re delighted with the fantastic support being given by the Foshan Open. Last year the players were delighted with the facilities and the set up and so I’m confident that this year there will be an extremely strong turnout from the leading 60 on the European Challenge Tour”.
