Finishing 139(72, 67 -5) after two rounds, the Foshan native pro Zhang Zihong repeated his victory in the 2019 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Tournament and secured RMB30,000 prize money along with the precious spot in the upcoming Foshan Open.

"The Greater Bay Area Tournament has created a great opportunity for us to meet and make friends. I find the new format of men and ladies competing with each other very inspiring and I also noticed that most of the lady players are good at their short game." said Zhang Zihong, "A lot of good players from China Tour and CLPGA came this year and made an especially fierce battle. I'm happy for what I've achieved but I also know that I have a long way to go."

Zhang Zihong has been playing golf at the Foshan Golf Club since his adolescence. With constant practice and learning in some amateur competitions, he moved on step by step. Turned pro in 2018, he won wire-to-wire in the Greater Bay Area Tournament and claimed his maiden victory in his rookie season. This year, he has been playing well on the China Tour and PGA China. What's worth mentioning is that he charged up the leaderboard and tied for 6th in the Beijing Open.

Zhang is definitely not a stranger to the Foshan Open. He played in the tournament since 2014 through a victory in the Junior Qualifier. He also shot an amazing hole-in-one in 2017.

"The Foshan Open players are growing year by year!" the young man said very frankly, "I finished even after two rounds last year and I thought I would make the cut. But it turned out that you could only get into the final with at least 3 under par! The course was very challenging—fast greens, tricky pins… So guess I wasn't that bad. I've been playing for almost 2 years as a professional golfer now and I really learn a lot on the tours. I would like to thank my parents for their support and always accompanying me. I would also like to thank the Foshan Golf Club for their long time support! It is my 6th time to play in the Foshan Open and I'm looking forward to the wonderful week!"
