Community Gets A Little Help From Its Friends

Community care becomes top of the agenda this week as the build up to the Foshan Open continues with the New World China Friendship Tournament. The invitational tournament is a great chance for all the sponsors to play the same course and same layout as some of the world's best emerging golf talent will when they come to the Foshan Open this October. Additionally, the event's presenting sponsor, New World China, has extended invitations to all its homeowners, residents, commercial tenants, members and guests of subsidiary business units of the company.
Top three of the competition—Liang Jiekun, Xiao Weidong and Xu Zhigang secured precious spots in 2019 Foshan Open Pro-Am Tournament and will play with rising golf stars from the world in October.
Mr. Chen Yuhang, Project Director of Canton First Estate, Mr. Julian Small, General Manager of Foshan Golf Club, Mr. Chen Zihao, Ambassador of the Foshan Open presented the Pro-am qualifications to the Champion, Runner-up and Third place
"Given the number of enthusiastic replies we've had, Saturday is really a great day," said Julian Small, General Manager of Foshan Golf Club. "We're delighted that Chen Zi-hao, who is one of the top players in China and also our Foshan Open ambassador, is at the tournament and players get a chance to pit their golfing skills against him in our "Beat the Pro" charity challenge at the short 11th hole. If their tee shots get closer to the hole than Chen Zi-hao, they'll each win a souvenir hat signed by him. I've also challenged our participants to see if they can beat me at that hole. For each one who does, I donate RMB100 to our Community Care project. Knowing my golfing skills, currently, I have paid out a huge pile of money!"
All proceeds from the New World China Friendship Tournament will be donated to two charitable organizations—Foshan Red Cross Hospital School, a school offering study instruction and psychological care, and Guangzhou Huiling which provides support for people with mental disabilities.
RMB22,000 charity money was rasied till the end of the day. Given the enthusiastic reaction to the "Beat the Pro" feature in the New World China Friendship Tournament, it's been decided to include it in all further events involved in the build up to the Foshan Open. Proceeds from those will also be donated to the charitable organizations.
"The enthusiastic support that's given by all the sponsors is amazing," said Small. "It's thanks to them that the Foshan Open is regarded as the biggest and best on the European Challenge Tour. I'm sure they will be rewarded with a hugely successful 2019 Foshan Open. Hopefully we'll see another Brooks Koepka (former Challenge Tour player and currently the world's top golfer) emerge at the event."
