Huiling Farm
Established in 1990, Guangzhou Huiling Home for Persons with Mental Disabilities is a NGO dedicated to help those disadvantaged through setting up nine different facilities including an integrated kindergarten, a primary school, a sheltered workshop, an autism research center, a bakery, an adult care resident and several family homes. More than 400 mentally retarded people have benefited from its service.This time, our volunteer group paid a visit to the Huiling Farm, one of the service units. The Huiling Farm has been introducing innovative approaches of “agriculture therapy” to address the needs of people with mental disabilities. It is through daily living, work skill and social trainings to enhance their integration in the society, which they may be otherwise not accustomed to, thus, gaining self-respect.

The Huiling Farm captivates guests with fresh air and a heaven of tranquility and peace. Every one of the Huiling farm shares our passion for the game in the surrounding natural beauty.Their smiles were so sweet and bright when they were getting in touch with the game of golf. We were deeply impressed by their spontaneous happiness.
Vic's Golf Teaching For those living in the farm, this golf course is more than a game but encouragement and support from others. Various hobbies will help them to unleash their potential and creativity after the farm work. They are the same as us, who constantly explore the beauty of this wonderful world. Vic expressed his heartfelt satisfaction, “I really really enjoy these kinds of activities, as these people have the truest happiness. They are loving, polite, and they give us everything. If we are like them, we are sure to be much happier. What’ more, the teachers and volunteers are angels. Thanks to their affection, they are caring and considerate. They are blessed with the simplest happiness”.

The visit to Guangzhou Huiling Special Training Center is a response to their visit to Foshan Golf Club. “Kids” who are sympathized and helped by others can create their own value. This kind of charity deserves our support.Just like the pet phrase of Liangliang “wonderful golf, beautiful world” indicates, let’s pass on the pure beauty together and spread it to every corner of the world. Charity brightens golf and the whole world.

Q： What are their biggest changes?
A：At the start of their farm life, they seemed a bit bad-tempered. However, after a period of familiarization, they got used to the farm life and learned to be independent. They can do washing, have meals and clean the rooms on their own. What we hope is to provide them a platform to learn more skills and become independent.
Q：What can we do for them?
A：60% of our funds are donated by warm-hearted people. In addition to material support, frequent interaction is more significant. Some university students came to our farm as volunteers while some companies held their team building activities here and experienced farm work like picking fruits and cut the grass.
