Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Golf Handicap Tournament-Foshan

On September 20th, the first Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Golf Handicap Tournament was staged on the Foshan Golf Club of the Canton First Estate. Spanning 3 months, it attracted golf lovers who hold the Handicap certificate to participate in. After fierce fighting, Li Wenlong from Men’s Group A championed with the lowest score: 63, followed by Zhong Bingxian and Dai Zhiming. Zeng Qingyu from Women’s Group A scored 66,  winning the the champion, and followed by Luo Guoying and Yang Qiuyan.  The above six players have successfully assured themselves a place in the final in Hong Kong.

Deriving from the Greater Bay Area, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Golf Handicap Tournament is a heritage of the superb metropolitan cluster which is composed of Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhaoqing, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Huizhou, Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, as well as the Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR. It will play a strong role in transmitting golf culture, attracting investment, improving city image and commercial communication, as well as accelerating the internationalization of this area.

The General Administration of Sport of China and China National Tourism Administration formulated the “‘One-Silk-One-Road’ Sports Tourism Development Plan”, encouraging the “One silk One Road” regions to develop distinctive tourism according to their own resources and market conditions. Besides, the Guangdong provincial government declared in the 2017 “Thirteenth Five-year Plan” that efforts are made to forge the Greater Bay Area into a world-famous tourist attraction; Reform will also take place in sporting event. The government will offer full support to various competitions organized by citizens.

Featured with vitality and rapid economic growth, the Greater Bay Area exceeds the average standard of China’s per capita GDP. Its huge potential can be demonstrated by an increasing market need for high-end tourism and entertainment, of which golf is a typical example. Being the cradle of China’s golf, the Greater Bay Area is blessed with profound golf culture, and the whole area is home to over 50 golf courses and as many as 200,000 golfers. Therefore, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Golf Handicap emerges as the times require. It has gained warm welcome and full support from more than 20 clubs, including Foshan Golf Club, Zhuhai Golden Gulf Club, Golden Lake Golf Club, Agile Golf & Country Club, Shenzhen Genzon Golf Club, Macau Golf and Country Club, Hong Kong Golf Club. Starting from the first station on September 20th, the tournament will be staged on other 10 cities of the Greater Bay Area, of which Hong Kong is the final destination.

An a high-end and international sporting event, this tournament requires that the Handicap certificate is compulsory for all participants. According to the Organizing Committee, male participants’ Handicap shall be lower than 36, and female, 40. Handicap certificate is obligatory, provided by golf club, China Golf Association, Hong Kong Golf Association, or Golf Association of Macau, and verified by USGA.

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Golf Handicap Tournament is launched by the Guangdong Golf Club General Managers Conference, organized by the Organizing Committee of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Golf Handicap Tournament, supported by the Guangdong Golf Association, Institute of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, China Golf Association Handicap System, CSTIT (Beijing) Co. Ltd.. Besides, thanks to the support of New World China Land Limited, today’s tournament was successfully held at Foshan Golf Club.
